Andrew Alexander, Founder of Fabric Republic

THE STORY

How a London-trained leather designer ended up teaching craft in a Kazimierz café.

Andrew trained at Cordwainers in London and spent a decade designing leather goods for brands you've heard of — the kind of work that looks glamorous from the outside and slowly takes the craft out of your hands.

In 2021, he moved to Kraków and opened the Slow Fashion Cafe studio with a simple goal: teach what he knows to the people who actually want to learn it. Four years later, Andrew's classes are the heart of Fabric Republic's maker programme.

PHILOSOPHY

“Everyone should understand the craft behind the clothes they wear.”

— Andrew Alexander, Founder & CEO / Fabric Republic

Our values

Six principles that guide how we choose partners, set our fees, and support every maker we work with.

Authenticity

We celebrate real makers, real stories, real craft. No performative authenticity — just honest work and honest connection.

Community

We build a republic of creators, not customers. Everyone has a seat at the table — makers, locals, students, and visitors.

Craftsmanship

We honour skill, tradition, and the hand-made. Quality over speed. Process over product. The journey matters.

Sustainability

We champion circular fashion, slow production, and ethical practices. Our upcycle programme keeps fabric out of landfill.

Accessibility

Great culture should be open to all. We communicate creative spaces and keep pricing transparent and fair.

Social impact

We reinvest profits into emerging makers and charitable initiatives. Every booking supports the next generation.

How we work

Four interconnected programmes — each serving a different part of the republic, all feeding the same community.

Curated fashion tours

01 / EXPERIENCES

Curated fashion tours

Walk Kraków's fashion backstreets with an artisan guide. Meet designers, see ateliers, and discover the stories behind Polish style.

Hands-on workshops

02 / MAKER CLASSES

Hands-on workshops

Short courses in leatherwork, natural dyeing, hand-stitching and textiles — taught by working artisans at the Slow Fashion Cafe.

Study in Kraków

03 / GRADUATE PROGRAMME

Study in Kraków

Full enrolment support for SAPU's BA, MA, and Foundation programmes. From application through first-day arrival.

Circular fashion

04 / UPCYCLE COLLECTIVE

Circular fashion

We collect unwanted fabric and route it to local designers and students who give it a second life. Less waste, more makers.

How our partnerships work

A simple, four-step process for building long-term relationships with brands, schools, and cultural organisations.

1

Discover

Explore our programmes — experiences, maker classes, graduate support, or the upcycle collective. Find what aligns with your goals.

2

Connect

Reach out through our form or book a call. We'll learn about your needs, timeline, and how we can build something together.

3

Collaborate

We design a bespoke partnership — whether it's a single workshop, a long-term programme, or a material diversion agreement.

4

Grow together

We execute, measure impact, and iterate. Every partnership includes reporting, feedback loops, and shared storytelling.

Frequently asked

What kind of organisations do you partner with?

We work with fashion brands, hospitality groups, educational institutions, textile producers, and cultural organisations. Whether you're a boutique hotel in Kraków or a design school in London, if you share our values, there's a way to collaborate.

How do your experiences work for corporate groups?

Our fashion experiences are designed for teams of 6–20 people. We customise the route, the makers you meet, and the narrative to align with your brand. Perfect for client entertainment, team building, or executive retreats.

Can you support our sustainability reporting?

Yes. Our upcycle collective provides certificates of diversion, monthly weight reports, and annual impact audits suitable for ESG and B Corp reporting. We measure everything we divert and document where it goes.

Do you offer white-label or co-branded programmes?

We do. From co-branded maker classes to white-label graduate enrolment support, we can embed our programmes into your brand experience while maintaining our quality standards and values.

What regions do you cover?

Our HQ is in Kraków, Poland, with active partnerships across the EU. We run experiences in Kraków, Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, and Gdańsk, and our graduate programme places students in schools across Europe.

How do we get started?

Book a 30-minute discovery call through our contact form. We'll ask about your goals, timeline, and budget, then propose a partnership structure that works for both sides. No obligation, no hard sell.
